The final examination is a 50-question multiple-choice test created by the Clerkship Directors in Emergency Medicine (CDEM) from SAEM. It is designed to be equivalent to a national shelf examination. It is a proctored examination. For EM-interested students, the score is then reported on your SLOE as one of the questions on the SLOE is which end-of-rotation exam a student takes and what their score was, so the score can be compared to the mean for EM-interested students nationally.
You need to contact Debbie Machak to schedule your examination prior to departing Conemaugh. The examination can be scheduled any time during your month with us. Those wishing to study ahead of time may want to review the CDEM MS4 curriculum to ensure a strong knowledge base prior to taking the exam.

If a student has already taken the CDEM exam on a previous rotation, they must let Deb Machak know. There are multiple versions of the exam, so we can change the version of the exam when you take it here to a different version.
